I find that there are significant cultural issues there that will surprise the average American, and you have to be careful about construction quality.

. - Financing: all cash- Building codes : none which is great.Also, most of these market outside US (or outside western hemisphere), is geared toward investors that "could work" within a deregulation zone/environment, so adapting to local culture is crucial.

I would say Cleveland is more cultured, and is much more similar to Buffalo, but that the ease of living in Columbus is generally higher.

I've heard it said that the locals feel that some visitors that stay in STRs do not respect sacred landmarks and other cultural nuances.

I tend to buy in the Southern half of the US for 2 reasons:1) you get much higher year-round occupancy rates in the South & it’s simply tough to earn a good ROI in the North if your place sits vacant for a big chunk of the year2) Culturally, the Southern half of the US seems to be a lot more accepting of STRs regulation-wise.

There is still lots of great and useful stuff in there though.Of course, the fact that you're Greek will be hugely helpful, especially when it comes down to all the cultural aspects.On another note, I love Greece but, if I was forced to choose between the two, I'd personally rather own property in Switzerland than in Greece.

I think it has to do with the Tenant Culture that is specific to this region.
