It's not my favorite place in the area, but the biggest issue with Crystal River right now is that a 2005 city ordinance was passed banning short term rentals by the nightly rate, and that was a thriving business here in Citrus County (it still is, of course).

I wouldn't normally mention these topics on a site like this, because I wouldn't want to be banned.

What about minorities being arrested because counties needed labor so they would just pick people up off the streets.it wasn't until the 1970's that minorities could actually compete for a job, get fair housing, etc....so if you are correct in what you say about the banning of slavery in 1777 why did it take almost 200 years for a minority to compete for a job. . . how can you pull yourself up by the bootstraps if there's nothing to hold on to?

The vast part of the budget actually came from rich South Africans who could not get their fortune out of the country since the Rand at the time, was banned.

If we are going to argue that societal standards are small-business killers, you can lump everything in there from prohibiting child labor to banning discrimination. 

The macroeconomic issue isn’t pretty and lots of companies are on travel bans (well before fedex news).

-My HOA is taking steps to ban AirBnB and as an absentee owner I am at a huge disadvantage as far as representation at these HOA meetings.

Insurance/Landlord bans on "aggressive breeds" are asinine. 

I've lived here for 6 years, and the STR market is killing it, since we have so many waterfront areas (Ozello, Fort Island Trail, Pine Island, and so many more) but the only problem is that Crystal River passed a city ordinance banning short term rentals in an effort to protect the manatees and local culture.
