I plan on doing the dishwasher but is it a waste of money to go buy a brand new oven, stove, and microwave?

Gas stove if gas is available.

Stove refridgerator, sometimes a dishwasher, microwave washer and dryer. 

Or if someone leaves the stove or oven on and causes a fire?

As you are painfully aware, ambiguity is bad.If you are expecting anything else (free-standing stove, laundry set, lawn mower) that is personal property you should have your agent clarify the contract.

Your lease should mention any personal property (lawn furniture, stove, fridge, etc) and who is responsible.
