I would avoid anything higher end, higher tech (more to break) or front load unless I was in a very high end/luxury rental market (where a plain white durable top load would look out of place) or if I thought I might sell soon and then the aesthetics of a new matching appliances (front loads can look snazzy paired) might appeal to buyers.

I still contribute regularly to a pair of mutual fund accounts, I refer to one of them as my "retirement fund" but ultimately the goal is for my retirement to be funded by future real estate investments.

Whatever we use to teach financial literacy should be "wealth vehicle" neutral.... for some people, index funds paired with an engineering degree paired with hard work genuinely makes the most sense, etc, and RDPD wouldn't capture or convey that.

For exampleI try to live well below my means meaning wearing the same pair of shoes for years, packing my own lunch, not impulse shopping, and not give in to social pressures to spend money just because that's what the "norm" is.

And while designer accessories can have resale value, I've obviously been unable to re-coup some of those dollars through eBay sales...Some lottery players wouldn't dream of spending so much on a pair of shoes... unless they won the lottery, of course.....
