There has been a substantial increase in inventory of storage facilities constructed and although generally near full occupancy there are greater options for storage space in most coastal regions.

But if I'm going somewhere with my wife for any length of time, I like the space afforded us by a vacation rental, the kitchen for cooking, a living room for spreading out.

This targets family’s between homes, either because they just moved to the area; have a definitive time work contract; current house is being rebuilt/remodeled/repaired; students with “rich” parents; recent separated/divorced who needs space for children visits; Houston medical center stays; etc.  

Tenants may not care as much, therefore there may not be a big discount for the lack of space. 

I have a space in my home where I do all of my desk office-type work, but it is not dedicated to real estate.

Not a lot of municipalities allow that sort of structure as living space in our area.
