I've completed a bachelor in architecture - attending a master in management - and am able to choose from one of these fields as my further occupation: real estate development - asset management - property management. 

I studied architecture in college, and now work for a builder/developer in Nashville, and recently started my real estate investing career.I purchased my first home on the outskirts of Nashville with the thought that I could "house hack" by renting it out on AirBnB.

The architecture is gorgeous, and the homes are of great quality. 

I'm a landscape designer for a landscape architecture and planning firm in Costa Mesa, California.

We've always purchased turn-key properties and are now thinking of buying a true fixer-upper at a lower cost and renovating (i.e. adding higher, architecturally interesting ceiling, ripping out walls, and designing a modern space, etc.). 

He signed a contract to purchase around 9 acres of land north of Charlotte(from a land owner), and he had submitted all the architectural plans/other paperwork(to build Apartment homes) - and recently got his permission from city town planning.

And so is destroying any of the architectural charm of the place - interesting dilemma. 

That said, with exception to the capital building which is a fine example of architecture, I thought Austin and much of the hill country really, was a bit of a crap hole with crappy houses.
