You also need to develop a good working relationship with your local building department and city officials (city council members, etc).

I've not done this, but its been a hot topic at city council recently, thank's to a redevelopment plan that outlines different zoning than we currently have.

Encourage people from all walks of life to serve their country as senator or congressman or council member and then after a couple terms let them get back to doing some 'real' work.I want a party made up of people with common sense, people with honor, and people with courage.

Our city council is trying to register all landlords and have out of state landlords appoint a local agent who will take service from them for codes violations, grant access, fix any problems etc.The excuse they use for the proposed ordinance is they can't find the real owner, especially if they're out of state.
