Hey Jeff,We looked into it for our home in Capitola (we are beginning to plan moving to the Caribbean for a handful of years). 

@Bailey KeeferWe use callers that based overseas (Philippines and Caribbean) for our clients (investors and realtors), and they definitely do a great job if you go all the way vetting them. 

However, I'll want to hand over my money to developers that I know personally or who are personally known by somebody within my close network.Some of my additional criteria are:- The risks have to be acceptable;- Foreigners have to have the same rights and be treated similarly than locals;- I have the right resources on the ground in terms of people who I can work with and who can give me good advice.That leads me to Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Southern Europe.These are my criteria that fit with my objectives.

Taxes are ridiculous here plus I am not a fan of the cold being from the Caribbean lol 

It's only after having successfully rented that they realize that it was a great investment and that they can use their vacation home as a piggy bank of sorts.Because of that and because properties are so much cheaper than like properties in North America and elsewhere in the Caribbean, many people have the money to pay for the property in cash and they're happy to do it.

However, it is only two minutes from the beach and the new Marina that has the only Ice skating rink in the Caribbean!.  

He sounds so carnival barker-ish or snake oil salesman-ish that I couldn't bear to listen to the end. 

While we can't easily make the run to Tijuana on a weekend, the Caribbean is a short hop away.No mountains, no snow, just flip flops and Jimmy Buffett songs.
