Sometimes they know of businesses that are looking to expand, or can help with marketing your property.Some retail chains have a "submit your property for consideration" link on their Web site somewhere. 

@Brad HammondIt is almost always the price (and exposure).With it being on the web, exposure is probably not an issue.

Data is cheap, phone and web based marketing can be cheap as well.
