I still have all of my tools incl great laser level, etc and I want to see how long it will take me to knock it out for future reference too, but we're talking about a week of work at most and I'll have a helper too.Just make damn sure that whoever you hire is not only not a clown or a goof (unfortunately common sometimes) but that they've got liability ins coverage (and don't hesitate to call that ins co to verify it either!

I have had tenants install them on the sides of the building where there were wooden beams, and one guy just put one basically on the ground next to the house.

The sill plate is solid 10"x10" fir beams. even with years of water/insect damage it still has more life in it than the treated 2x4s you see today.

We have been given bids for beam installation and told it will take 3 guys 4 days, cost $5k and that the beam was very expensive. 

Everyone I know performing in the STR segment universally has a laser focus on the operational aspect.

The low hanging fruit tends to be basements- so you’re looking for the components of a dwelling space, which include:- minimum 6’ 8” ceilings, 6’4” under beams and HVAC . 7’ ideally.

They have to make a lot of well planned decision, have a lot of self discipline and laser focus.
