The point is, it sure seems like, based on the changes in that market over time, the risks now outweigh the rewards, unless the rents are extremely high. 

@Michael CraigIn my opinion, the risk of you being taken to court by a tenant for infringing on their rights would out weigh the risk posed by guns being on the property.

This process will greatly outweigh any economic blip even something the size of the Great Depression.

My car is 7 years old, my house is modest, I don't own a piece of clothing over $100.I get the opportunity to spend quality time with my loved ones and have memories that will far outweigh cash in the bank.  

The potential to lose a few bucks to scammers is, IMO, far outweighed by the costs added to EVERYTHING by these licenses and regulations.The vast majority of people in business want to stay in business, so they deliver a fair product at a fair price.

Call me a simpleton but the feeling of owning 2 cashflowing assets free and clear outweighed the fact that I was getting a smaller return on investment.

The benefits (probably just ease of finding a renter) don't outweigh all the potential negative things that could happen.

Good thought but cost outweighs the benefits, which are almost zero to the school IMO.

Take tech startup Tesla for example, it took 18 years to turn a profit, for 18 years spending far outweighed revenue.
