One thing about a lot of the houses in this particular area is that because they're all older homes (1900-1940 mostly) just about every one needs "something" done to it to make it a nice, modern, functional house, while ours truly needs nothing, its been totally updated, no compromises here.

It seems actually to be a good compromise for us - I get in on my first real estate property and she gets a safe place for her dad that is subsidized by renting out the other unit.
