It seems this loan product has been particularly volatile over the past few months.

I don't think NYC's finance or SF's tech are immune to these market cycles, and in reality these industries actually just serve to make them more volatile. 

Real estate in LA ( and surrounding areas) is unique because the price to buy is high, but the market may not be as volatile as some other areas in the country.  

I'd think volatility was a concern, unless it's a large account.

Market rents are not so volatile that all of a sudden say a home that rents for $1,000 per month 2yrs from now is a $1,300 per month home. 

This situation seems a bit volatile right now.

This business is very volatile and the competition is fierce to say the least not to mention trying to find and keep good help.

@Kenisha Chapple,Well, when I talk private lenders, I'm usually talking about people you've met - or even your own friends and family - who would like better, safer, less volatile returns on the retirement money, for example.

But you will ultimately risk less volatility and certainly better appreciation long term in the northwest vs south side.
