I have all the opportunities in the world, but just can't seem to find the motivation to even try to capitalize on them, other than going through the motions.

You may want to get a lawyer (an experienced one) to lift the stay so that you can motion toward eviction and then collect any balances.

@Bob Burns You may want to look into the Uniform Transfer to Minors Act and whether/how it has been codified in your state.

I'd disagree with Jay as to the Midwest needing to be born with a silver spoon, that's just totally uniformed.

According to the Comptroller of the Currency: "A check is a negotiable instrument—the payee, the person to whom the check is written, may negotiate it through the banking system at any time" and check writers seeking redress must restrict themselves to pursuing the payee.[16]Nonetheless, if "the customer has given notice to the bank of the postdating describing the check with reasonable certainty" the Uniform Commercial Code requires that the notice to be honored.[17] In practice, whether the check writer has any redress against the financial institution where the payee deposited the check may depend on whether it can be shown that the check was accepted over the counter without examination

@Taylor Green As Ann was saying, you need an attorney, especially in collection issues if you're not familiar with applicable laws. While HMLs have fewer lending restrictions that one lending on an owner occupied home (they do the commercial side) it's not the wild west, they are regulated and every business transaction is covered under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).Lenders can only "attach" property that is taken for collateral, a HML is not going (or shouldn't be) toward securing cars, or boats or non-business assets as that constitutes a consumer loan and they'll likely be in violation of consumer lending regulations.
