Included in our rent invoice each month was a photocopy of the current water and sewer bill; the owner would pay it, but then when we'd write the rent check each month, the check would be for the rent plus whatever amount was billed for the water/sewer.  

As of late, FHFA (makes the rules for most mortgages) is now requiring written confirmation from the contractor that the invoice being paid relates to work that has ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED.

I would ask them for a copy of the invoice paid and check to make sure the contractor is licensed.

One of my managers charges 10% for any invoice through another company. 

@Patricia Andriolo-BullYour attorney is probably correct as you most likely will spend more than $6k to defend the claimIf I were you though I would thoroughly read through their claims and start putting together a response.The other thing to consider is for the money you withheld, did you actually perform the repairs and keep invoices or was it what you thought the cost was?

Sorry, I'm not paying whatever ridiculous handyman invoice that the PM passes onto me for such a simple "fix".

Once you get a duns number go to quill.com and order about $25 bucks worth of stuff and click the option in checkout as invoice me pay later.

As a property manager we can pay utility invoices, landscaping invoices, service repairs, HOA fees, etc on behalf of our clients.
