I would just add that on top of interest, depreciation and repairs/maintenance there are many other things you can deduct, depending on your situation - things like home office, car/transportation expenses, travel, meals, books/education and many more.

It would have required filling a water truck for transport. 

A couple months ago I bought a duplex in the Northside area off of the Main St Metro Rail (convenient 5 min transport to downtown).

They provide housing, food, transportation, etc.

Public transportation like you describe coming in 3.5 years almost always raises property values and usually greatly increases rental profits and stability therefore resale value.

Transportation issues are a problem regardless that needs to be addressed.

.- low prices- very good price-to-rent-ratios in the B class neighborhoods, and fantastic price-to-rent-ratios in the C class neighborhoods,- low property taxes- very landlord friendly laws- major city with good transportation, good infrastructure, and solid employmentNotice that appreciation is not on the above list. 

Transportation can be difficult if you don't drive or own a car.

@Brandon Borah Unless you have a time machine that will transport you back to 2006, I doubt that you'll find anyone that will do that, but I could be wrong.
