It'll take a lot of appreciation to put you in the black - while this is possible you shouldn't bank on it.

this was my only black mark in 50 years of doing real estate sales and lending.Many other states its fine though I know they do it a lot in IL and so on and so forth..

This is one of the most black and white areas of real estate taxation. 

The ironic part (based on Realtor.com claiming crime mapping penalizes black and Latino communities) is that my neighborhood in Crenshaw was pretty much all black and Latino.
