It also comes down to area you are dealing with. in Ottawa centre town, you are able to attract good tenants so work is less demanding

Once again, check your landlord tenancy laws ... the student centre on campus likely has fact sheets or brochures which outline renters rights and obligations.To be preemptive, you and the other tenants could collectively convince the landlord to make honouring your leases - at least to end of term - a condition of sale.  

@Michael Sadler, I was employed as a bank teller (in my twenties up to about 10 years ago), from there, briefly did mutual fund license processing, then life insurance sales (about 2 yrs) and life insurance call centre/admin (about 5 yrs).

Property developments near the financial centre of Dubai are now increasingly in demand, although buyer will have to pay more for real estate here, but they are all exclusive.

The home is in Centre County, PA - and real estate market here is pretty "stable", so houses are still moving and haven't lost their values like many areas.Thanks.

In the meantime, is there anyone in or around Ottawa that would be willing to loan me a book centred around real estate investing? 

I am aware that there are various added complications here including high taxes, pre-63 buildings, rent increase caps in the major centres, so I have a LOT to learn.
