As a foreign buyer, you are to look for 2 things in particular: the temporary foreign ban (which they keep pushing further back) and the source - The foreign purchase ban which applies across the board. yes there are exceptions but if you are not a Canadian tax Resident (which it seems you are), you will need to look for communities where the population is less than 100,000 in general. - Another exception to note on that foreign buyer ban is the number of units/doors for your investment: I believe the magic number is 5+ as this would be considered as commercial Real Estate- In Ontario, you will also have to look our for the Non-Resident Speculation Tax (NRST) which imposes about 25% on the purchase tax.

Hi everyone, Hoping to connect with someone who has experience renting to or operating residential care facilities. Purchased my 1st rental property last year in Cleveland, a 2unit MFH with 10beds between the 2 units....

I've owned student housing as far as 4.1 miles from the University of South Carolina campus.In my experience, the only reason kids would live that far away is cheap rent.

Primarily desert washes, but also near a creek....So I would go knock on doors and ask neighbors when it has flooded and what they think about the area......maybe call the County water board and ask then what has happened there in the past.

Areas like Ohio seem to be mentioned quite a bit on the message boards for better affordability.  

Not necessarily squatters, but vandels, kids, appliance thieves.
