The big thing, if you do it yourself, is to have a uniform written system and follow it.

I am interested in the internet/motion activation but knowing myself, I'd be 'over checking' it to the point of distraction/going overboard.  

Rough neighborhood if you ask me....not saying that's good or bad but last time I showed a condo in that neighborhood I was greeted by a fighting pimp and hooker followed by a Good Samaritan who asked if I was lost...I stood out wearing my nice real estate uniform...ultimately buyer did not like the other "tenants" in that neighborhood.

It’s not uniform with such a radius.

So, after going through the motions with open mind, I decided to call it a day as far as my search for TK properties is concerned.

I have a saying that I like to remind myself when I get overwhelmed, that is "Relentless Forward Motion".

But there are also alternatives:Install a home security system.Get a dog.Landscape wisely.Put up motion detecting outdoor lights.Install window and door alarms.Put in smarter locks.Install fake security cameras.Look like you’re home.The better question is: how does your tenant feel about it?

Otherwise why go through the motions? 

I had a uniformed fire inspector say that a unlit range pilot light could cause a carbon monoxide condition!

The bad part is that some day you might look around and wonder why you spent so many years just going thru the motions instead of trying to have something better.
