As an investor, you WANT that minor foundation problem, or that cat-pee carpet, or that ugly decor.

Not even remotely considering the potential for an investment at the time, I just watched to see the different designs, decor and fancy schmancy pools and landscaping. 

Greek and foreign buying houses and villas in order to rent them by the day, some they  decorated  with designers and convert them to 5 star villas .

People will put candles or some sort of decoration in there - it still maintains it's role as a focal point without the issues connected to a wood burning fireplace: dirt from the wood carried in, smoke, smell, chimney service issues etc.

Pet their pets, compliment them on their decorating choices.

-Sports Memorabilia: you can decorate the property with sports jerseys, framed autographs, or posters of local college teams or famous athletes.

Most cleaners here handle restocking, and 95% of the properties are going to come furnished and decorated.

The demographics doesn't appreciate the higher end decor and hip area like those in NELA.

I don't even feel motivated to decorate nor install new furniture if another flood is going to ruin everything again.Edit: I apologize if I posted this in the wrong category but I am very much trying to use this opportunity to officially start my real estate journey and take it serious rather than let what happen to me put me down.

You can often get good wood look tile on sale at Floor and Decor for close to $1/square foot and then you're paying about $1/square foot to demo out any old tile and $2.50 a square foot to lay it.
