Things that cause more overhead like need for extra bank accounts, extra insurance paperwork or conversations, and time required to spin them up and down in a scenario where you're holding property for shorter periods of time.Basically, everyone talks about the asset protection aspects, but the headaches around handling lots of checking accounts, setting up electronic payment / rent collection, etc is the daily tax on productivity I'm fearful of.

@Alex CraigAlthough I think they don't like to spin it this way, being from Wall Street I can tell you that a lot of what HU seems to be trying to do is make some of the stuff in RE more Wall Street like. a 1% fee is standard in other investments so someone who is not familiar would probably not even question it because you are used to it.

The electrician has to deal with the plumber, HVAC, and carpenter to get his job done... and the GC has to keep all those plates spinning at just the right speed to make sure that the job gets done correctly.Also, unless we're talking about Pegani sports cars, a house is a whole lot more expensive and dangerous to work on than a car.This is one of the things that I preach a lot and I have a hard time getting people to understand - construction is one of the most challenging assembly industries in existence.

My plumber suggests that because it has a pump primer it was for fluid - either water or gasoline.A friend who was in the construction business his whole life said this: "Back in the days people gathered rain water from the roof and had cisterns (sp) in the house to collect the water and hold it so it could be used to wash cloths, dishes, etc.
