Not sure what kit they used (told me it was a few coats of spray for what it's worth) but it cost me only $580 for the tile alone :)

After that we got really serious about rubber gloves, goggles, etc...)The worst part about the whole process is that even once the wallpaper is down, if it was stuck up really well you still end up skim-coating and sanding almost as much as if you had just replaced the drywall.

You could apply a fresh coat of paint over them without replacing them.
