It does not matter if it is gold, real estate, stocks, baseball cards, coins, classic cars, Titanic artifacts etc.

That is sort of the premise of Schumacher's classic book: Buy and Hold (just hang on...especially in SoCal and Coastal CA, or at least it worked for him)...

Classic charm neighborhoods with high end values (at least to KC terms)As for the Silicon Prairie, I follow this quite a bit and have pretty good confidence in the Fiber-hood taking hold (Google's first internet service provider city is KC) with ultra-fast internet.  

We'd probably all be curious to know in the end.But I also have to say that you didn't mention in your first post that it was a classic old beauty - I'm sad to hear of another one gone.Salvage potential? 

On my first rehab REO property, I made the classic mistake of underestimating costs, and trying to make a good deal out of something that simply wasn't.

No more ESPN radio for me, no more classic rock (well almost none), now it is all about listening to Dave and Brandon on the BP podcast, and Don Costa and a handful of others.The market is going to turn at some point while you are in college and there will be some real opportunities to buy. 

My recommendation is to go with a classic style and color that won't feel dated in a few years.

And I have 4 Classics of Landlord Lit in a blog post for the new buy and hold types (probably get them at the library  or used for a song).

It's a good list, but the book list I'm surprised they didn't list William Nickerson's "How I Turned $1k into a Million in Real Estate in My Spare Time" which I consider THE classic and upon which most current RE gurus have based their teachings on.
