I agree with @Dawn Anastasi .

My goal is be able to standardized units have slim dishwasher, combo washer/dryer, and as close to full size fridge as possible.

In just a few years we have had to replace a fair number of appliances, refrigerators, dish washers, washer, dryers etc.

Their rent is on time, and they were proactive in bringing to my attention issues with the dishwasher and the gutters. 

Replace all of your water supply lines if you haven't recently (toilet, dishwasher, fridge, all sinks, laundry).

All high end fixtures...venetian plastered walls, custom speakers throughout, built in Miele coffee system, custom cabinets, concealed dishwasher, toto toilets, hardwood floors, redone bathrooms, etc...BEFOREAFTER

If you have to resort to credit card debt or personal loans to replace stoves/furnaces/dishwashers etc.. then you are already in a bad situation.
