Would it be a good idea to take a deposit to secure the deal until the rule clears?

I wouldn't start investing in the US if you have no plans on coming back from living in China.

In Canada we have a 25 year mortgage (for example), but we renew it every 1-5 years (they started a 10 year one as well) at the current interest rate.
