Circuit City never suffered for a lack of product on their shelves, they suffered because people didn't want to buy their products at those prices.So as a wholesaler, you need to build a list of cash buyers.

That's like Walmart saying "our cashier's salaries are eating up our profits" or "having to pay those darn Chinese for the products we put on our shelves is killing our margins!".

Broken drawers and door shelves. 

I tend to see stolen light bulbs, smoke detectors, hydraulic door closers (yes), shower curtains and shower curtain rods, toilet paper spindles, medicine cabinet glass/wood shelves, window blinds, they also tend to break ceiling fans.

I added (actually took from my daughter) a rolling ikea cart that offered some countertop space and shelving.  

If it is a closet, can you raise the ceiling in the stairs/the floor above it and make a 'bench' in that part of the closet (not for actual sitting, but raise the floor and maybe add shelves above it so it doesn't stand out)?

No important belongings were damaged because we kept everything in bins on shelves, so damage done to our personal property is not a concern. 

We built the master closet (located in the master bathroom) with wire shelves, drawers, racks, and hanging rods.

We have been working to get as much info as possible, but have to move quickly... things fly off the shelves it seems.  

With those businesses, you take your inventory, shelving, fixtures, cash registers, computers, etc. and move to a new location.
