In the bathroom, kitchen, and doorways(snow), where you will have more water on the floor possibilities, I definitely would go with ceramic tile.We had vinyl 12 inch tiles that adhere to the floor in our bathroom of our personal residence. 

I have a relationship with a scientific engineer that has developed a spray on product that can have aggregate added to it to match any texture, it can be tinted with any color, and it is 100% ceramic so it is fire proof and water resistant.

So, in addition to ancient wiring you're likely to find "non-standard" wiring in more than a few places.So, please just take as a given that the entire house will need to be re-wired from the basement fuse panel through to every wing of the house.I don't know what the roof is made of but if you happen to have a ceramic tile roof don't get rid of it.

Otherwise look into better quality LVT (something with an AO or Ceramic Finish for scratch resistance.

I'll check out kitchen triangle.The floor will likely be ceramic tile, but possibly hardwood since the rest of the main level will be hardwood as well.

If it were me and I was planning to keep the rental for a while, I'd prefer hardwood or ceramic tile but labor will be more costly on those options

Other ceramic tiles in 6x6 sizes are even cheaper.
