Why not look at "flipping" your primary residence and sell it rather than rent it? 

We're leaning toward Cleveland, gravitating to the Cleveland & Shaker Heights B neighborhoods, both for ourselves and for family/professional leaning tenants.

Our goal has always been to use this condo as a primary residence for 3-4 years and then rent it out afterwards (we're planning to move out of state in 2026-2027).

This is opposite of most developments, typically developers start with housing in the first phase so in later phases when they deliver the retail/commercial there are residents already there to help utilize those assets.Ask me anything about their plans.

I wonder if anyone would have a take on whether homeowners who have locked in sub 5% interest rates on their primary residences are deciding to become landlords rather than sell their homes.

As much as I love this strategy, I'd be re-deploying all of the proceeds in to long term buy and hold investments and start building a tax free nest egg for my family for generations to come.
