Regarding the "hobby" comment, I guess you don't know what you don't know and that's why you took great offense to it but, in reality, Doug is trying to give you a heads up in relation to taxes.

Best defense is a good offense.  

I have to say ( and no offense intended to Josh), that this forum is a big disappointment to me.

I commend you on your expertise and contributions, but take offense to your original statement or how you delivered it. 

BTW no offense I bought couple of properties via santander and they are most horrible bank I came across.

I look at median income levels compared to national averages, percentage of population growth, low crime, and better yet more non-violent offenses, great schools, and low unemployment as key indicators.

If they give a to good to be true answer or sound like a used car salesman (no offense to the profession, just feeding the sterotype), then that would be a possible red flag.A big deal is if they own the property; if they don't, ask them their affiliation with the property.  

It can be super offensive, and illegal.This acquaintance also knows the laws about his service animal VERY well.
