There’s no tax advantage, there’s almost no privacy advantage, there’s a tiny tiny liability advantage, unless you are managing the property in which case there’s basically none. 

I have gutters installed and then I DYI underground piping to move the water further away from the house.I have leaf guard on the gutters too.I fence in each side of  the duplex to provide privacy for each tenant, plus I allow large dogs with tenant paid insurance.

But from my (non-lawyer) understanding, it's generally legal to film or record people without their consent in public where they should not expect privacy, but generally illegal when someone is in their home where they can expect privacy (state laws probably vary on this).

This devalues the original house and cramps privacy.

I feel that most of the market is not looking to just rent a room, most people out there are looking to live in a home and have their privacy. 

@Steven Westlake Did you give the required 24 hour notice or just assumed it was okay to violate his right to privacy. 

For privacy reasons you should probably not make the names to include your name.....Jason Jones, Inc.....that would be too easy to have people find what assets you own. 

You have to find someone who won’t mind the extra noise or maybe lack of privacy.

I also use these to cover the windows when the house is vacant ( instead of new blinds each time), to keep people from looking into the house, and to give the new tenants some privacy when they are moving their stuff into the house. 

You are going to be marketing remoteness, tranquility, and privacy, and there is a significant market for that.
