Their default procedure is to wire transfer funds but since my bank, Wells Fargo, charges $15 to receive wires, I asked if they can send me a cheque image instead so I can mobile-deposit it.

Since her home was flooded due to an interal plumbing issue and the insurance company is paying to remodel the existing old (1920s) and dilapidated structure (could tell by looking at some of the 2x4 studs revealed in the partial internal demolition), I decided to find out if my mother can use the money should would receive from the insurance company in the form of a check, put that towards the remodel, and in addition secure a construction-to-permanent loan in order to fund the complete transformation of her 1 bed 1 bath 1,200 sqft home into a 2-story duplex that she can rent out, airbnb, etc.

Well, given that whether or not the neighborhood has "noise problems" is one of the questions on the mandated Transfer Disclosure Statement in California, I can't see how stating that it doesn't have them would be a violation.

@Susan O.It could be done, but the transfer in the father's share of ownership would be considered a gift and he would have to pay taxes on the gift.Also, non-married people buying a property together like a father/daughter would lose the capital gains exemption.This is to prevent people from adding their children to dodge estate taxes.

If you measure the exterior dimensions you will come up with a different amount than if you measure the internal dimensions.
