It has its limitations, in that their Housing Price Index is based on the movement of single-family properties with mortgages purchased by Fannie & Freddie Mac, but it does go back to 1975 (where available), by Zip Codes (scroll down on the above link till you see "Five-Digit ZIP Codes" and download the Excel file.

Those are usually stepped, so you owe them less each year that you own it.When it comes time to sell, based on everything you are saying about your town and market movement, I would hire a Realtor.

Before we could get somebody to fully investigation the property suffered further collapse of bricks into the basement causing it to lean over.The insurance company are denying coverage due to "Earth movement" no quakes recorded in the area so I guess they mean from build up of water over the years.

could be a couple of things, steel will expand and contract, if there are no cracks in the foundation it could be that the concrete was put in too tight to the steel. any movement in the steel will break the concrete if packed too tight. could be do to a bad patch in the concrete after the steel was put in and over the years it may have cracked and finally given way as Account Closed had mentioned with the freeze/ thaw. i don't think the house is going anywhere and sounds like a cosmetic fix with some mortar.
