Also I think it adds to the premature deterioration of the carpet...just my opinion.The pad is ok if it doesn't smell, isn't saturated with pet urine or other material, and is generally pliable, and looks like it should.

i agree with brian. i'd bite my tongue and sweet talk them than burn that bridge. and trust me, i am more likely to burn a bridge than anyone i know. not proud of that, but just saying... pick your battles and the inspectors' office is not a good battle to fight. unlike corporations, they get paid no matter what..

Sometimes, these people have gone ahead and gotten pets despite what their lease says, other times they're just borrowing a pet from someone else, but I still don't want it in my unit even for a day or two because of smell and noise and bite-risk.

On the other hand, solid wood floors would probably pay for themselves if I didn't have to swap out carpet maybe twice or three times, and they are pretty impervious to dog smell and urine.Are there any thoughts on what kind of finish out to do if i plan on holding the place for 20 years and if the rest of the build is probably above average in quality?
