Yeah it sounds like something weird when the property sits and no air is circulating the corrosion gets worse on the panel etc.Those older panels are more fickle and the least thing can cause them to be off especially depending on where the panel is located and next to.I am not an electrician but it sounds like it to me.

If you're trying to have extra cabinet space, etc.. then you can re-circulate inside however as noted above, it wont remove odors, etc (vs. exterior venting). hope this helps
