Would you want to move right in the beginning of a school year? 

I will probably be like many old school types who start selling off in their portfolio in their 60s and 70s, so they can enjoy and cash in on that built up equity. 

Dropped out of 10th grade to make money for his family and so the younger ones could make the "payments" to go to high school.

I agree different city if your talking school district quality that is a huge issue to me.

And always set aside reserves for the unexpected.always look at location, schools and is there an area that is gentrifying where we could take advantage of better appreciation Inspections are paramount.

Im more a hands on learning definitely and as far as living in a unit i couldn't yet because its out of the kids school district  plus the limited space. but thats the goal, to buy a small air or inn to manage and run for work while still renting in our district and then looking to buy since we're renters again!

You will be dealing with high school kids who are your employees...I know, there will be a manager, but a manager can only go so far...Plus corporate can come and make you change this or that, you will be obligated to comply.Seems like a headache to me even more than with rentalsSo Ive decided when I retire, I want to enjoy my life, not to deal with a headache from a restaurant

Any way around paying the very high property tax, school tax etc. in SC?  

Just old school grunt work. 

I've definitely seen parents purchase properties close to campus to house their kids while they're at school, it's a solid move.
