Unless you are in a vacation area, I would never buy a STR that does not work as a LTR.Regarding another pandemic, we have one like every 100 years, so I am playing the odds that we are not going to have another covid lockdown situation anytime soon.

Update on ConnectLinx.com - The company refuses to have a phone conversation even with a seasoned enterprise client which I find very odd for a platform looking to replace Rentlinx... 

I have been self-managing my other property for the past decade, with the caveat of it being 30 miles from where I live.Now, I plan to do so with this property, albeit from a distance of 200 odd miles.

I got my start renovating my own rentals and helping my Electrician Father in Law on odd jobs. 

This is what my gut's been telling me, but gut + advice from seasoned pro's = higher odds of success. 

Is it just me or does this seem very odd?  

Something small to start it off.But like you said, having to pay 765 for an inspector to come out is quite odd.

The tenants ‘boyfriend’ leaves the property and oddly enough, another male shows up for a short amount of time.

The Bayside units are very nice, but the ones at Gulfside, which is older, can be pretty dated and have odd layouts.
