There are, however, natural limitations given that NYC has a thriving finance and tourism industry and in DC it doesn't seem like the government is going to move any time soon.

I don't know of a STR banned city database.You can search through this forum.If you pick a tourist town then you should be OK as they get a lot of revenue from tourism and will likely not do anything to upset that.

(Metro area should have a diverse economy, not just tourism, etc..)

We only do group/open house-style showings.We do use a CRM system to track inquiries and leads of prospective tenants, which is tied to our inbound caller id.

It can be weird as was mentioned, million dollar homes just a mile away from a trailer park but NH has always had a large tourism business.

Gives me the ability to make my own meals, my kids feel more at home in a condo environment, and often times we can park the car for most of the week and either walk or ride beach cruisers wherever we're going.Maybe check with the local chamber of commerce and look at historical performance of the tourism industry there - that might give you a good idea of how busy the place is year round.

STRs generally earn a higher return than LTRs, if done properly, so you're on the right track.First of all, hopefully your properties are in a high-demand year-round tourism spot (preferably in the southern half of the US which is where STR works best) & hopefully it's legal there too - check the regs.Also, STRs require a LOT more effort on the management front than LTRs.
