In the kitchen it has worn down to the base material where the trash can is constantly moved in and out under a cubby and the renter spilled something on it in another area that completely stripped the top layer and peeled it.

Other than this, the bathrooms are all original, with concerns for mold, older and very worn tub, toilet, vanity, peeling paint (lead expected, for sure).

Wet them down like Matt said, put on a dust mask, and scrape them up.

Tenants just reported major peeling of a previous re-glaze on tub and tiles and water infiltration into the wall. 

Just keep your eyes peeled.

No problem, peel off any part you want or just part of any part!

You can TRY to mask the smell, but it will not work.

They started lifting in spots after about 4-6 months, I ended up having sheet vinyl laid over them and I'm much happier.My local flooring store said they stopped carrying them because they would peel up.

Just got to keep your eyes peeled.
