The mortgage note itself is a form of asset protection.Have you implemented and exhausted all the other risk mitigation procedures necessary and available to you?

Sounds like your current lender has an overlay for the number of mortgages that isn't in line with Fannie Mae's guideline of max 10 mortgages per individual.I always recommend exhausting your conventional options before moving into a more private or portfolio type loan.  

I'd say exhaust all other options before barking up the new construction tree.

@Brian Garrett The main reason is that it's really exhausting, and relies so heavily on my step dad to pull those types of numbers. 

I would basically exhaust ever other avenue of info instead of lining some guru's pockets.

I would note that the list of things that you "could" do before placing an offer on a property is exhaustive. 

I’m completely new at all of this and I need some direction because my ADD brain can’t decide which way to go and quite frankly I’m exhausted from thinking about every avenue of possibility.
