I've taken BiggerPocket's podcast advise to offer value before asking for value... by volunteering to be the newsletter editor for my local Landlord club has instantly put me in the spot light. 

Wow volunteer; I feel for your loss.

You'll find that many volunteers in the community are people who have time to devote to their cause.

I don't want to do REI full-time as I love to help people with financial planning but my wife wants to manage properties if it means she can stay home with the kids and volunteer at their school at-will.

In hopes that I will live a while longer, I will still go to the office tomorrow, but I will also take the weekend to volunteer at our communtity festival and spend time with family.

Nonetheless good topic.I volunteer for an inner city youth group throughout the year.

My dream was to always be able to contribute significantly to the local communities (not just volunteer but rather financially) and realized the trajectory of my career is too slow.

Volunteering is a great way to network while also doing good for your community.Social Media Presence- I cannot stress this enough.

The other, and possibly even more fundamental to reducing barriers for opportunities to let people prosper, is implementing sound budgetary practices.By reducing government spending through things like freezing new hires and pay raises and placing a moratorium on incurring any new taxpayer-funded debt, there are plenty of opportunities to cut taxes.Local governments should volunteer for third-party audits to determine where areas of waste can be eliminated along with expensive lobbying contracts and longevity pay.
