The gutters are missing a large section of the down spout, there is a section of roof venting gone and the exterior hasnt been painted in years as the paint is peeling and the wood has now been exposed to the elements and rotting.

You can also choose to just perform the dust swipe test and leave it at that if it passes (the swipes should pass unless you have areas of peeling lead paint in which case you should bite the bullet and fix this).

i bought one house (forgot how long ago) that had an old, old carpet.. the walk areas of the carpet were so thin, that you could feel the hardwood underneath. when we went to take out the carpet and pad, the pad had deteriorated so much, that 90% of was turned into dust, the rest of it (10%) was glued to the hardwood underneath. it took us about a day with vinegar, water, and numerous different scrapers to try to peel the pieces and residue off. hosing down the floor would be a nice option. like a prison cell.

With older homes and lead paint it is important to attend to peeling interior paint for kids who might chew on it.Checking alarms.Checking dryer vents, replacing plastic with metal.What else?
