I live in Davis, CA, where my husband and I just bought our dream home in June 2014 after selling our first home in Berkeley, CA that we owned for just 2 years...we had put in 3.5% with an FHA loan and eloped instead paid for a fancy wedding (much to the disapproval of my mother-in-law).

But after I got my first house, they no longer say their disapproval out loud.

Since moving into town I have noticed some stares of disapproval, specifically aimed at my hands, and I have been asked about them 3x in the 2 months I’ve been here.

Gone are the days when you could disapprove of someone because they showed up to the showing with a nasty, junk filled car, late and with an attitude.
