You don’t even have to attend some conferences, some will publish a list of their speakers and/or attendees and you could simply reach out directly after researching their firms online.

I often look at them and think if they can do it, probably I can have some level of success too.Other key info I may have left out above:1) I am not in the US, and have no plans to visit or move there2) I am not a US citizen, but possibly have a credit history there (maybe none) since I attended university there many many years ago3) I am completely new to real estate - I've been reading crazily and consuming lots of content.

Also, consider joining local real estate investment groups in the Ashtabula area - even if you attend virtually.

and planning to attend meetups while there is another great idea.  

A great way to start is by attending RE events and joining a local investors association.

At the last show I attended, our booth was directly across from a RE broker of RV Parks.
