Foreigners can buy any kind of property freehold in Mexico, including land and villas/houses.Also, I hate to be a party pooper but I did a search and everything seems to indicate that foreigners cannot purchase freehold property in Indonesia/Bali and Indonesia certainly doesn't have any law similar to the "fideicomiso" law in Mexico.I'm not sure what you mean by a trusted local but bear in mind that, if you ever have to go to an Indonesian court against your partner, your chances to win as a foreigner against a local will be very slim as Indonesian law doesn't treat locals and foreigners similarly so you're kinda gonna be at his/her mercy.So, make sure you know what you're doing and who you're dealing with.
