Mike when I first got on BP it was common and I believe encouraged ( to stimulate growth and participation) that you had what I called welcome wagon posters..

They are also compensating the local government there to stimulate economy and make roads and what not better.

It's really more fortunate than unfortunate when you think about it....a landlord invests money, that stimulates the local economy and hires contractors and their employees.

Those tax breaks existing in the first place are examples of politicians intervening to artificially change market dynamics, by stimulating investors to buy those properties more aggressively than they would in a free market. 

maybe Google just doing this like they did with Google Flights to leverage their negotiations for higher advertising dollars from VRBO/AIRBNB etc, like they did with Expedia/Hotels.com/United/Delta etc and they have no real interest in making it a discrete profit center but just a strong profit stimulant to their core advert business.buy more Google stock usually a winning formula last 20 years

Many investors that bought STR at the top of the market, will now have to sell or absorb losses until time "heals" their mistake.There will be opportunities for patient investors to buy some deals from these motivated investors, some as foreclosures, maybe short sales, as long as the numbers make sense for LTR rents.
