What kind of handset do you have on the bathroom door?

Of course it makes changing building entrance key more difficult.We've also learned to NOT install keyed handsets for SFR entry doors.

I would expect all "common" entrances, such as a back door for laundry room, to be locked at all times...simply put a "storeroom" function handset on it so it is always locked.

I agree Schlage is higher quality but their rebuild kits are more costly than a new kwikset handset.  

When having a phone in your home was a status symbol to display.It might have held an old fashioned Al Capone Blower Phone, or a more stylistic handset phone.I'm guessing from the level of fancy trim, this place is well built.Maybe one of the people in this video had this house built for his family with 6 bedrooms.

So easy for tenants to change the handset/deadbolt themselves--they keep the expensive locks and landlord is back at square one.For buildings with common entry, spend a bit more and use a smart pushbutton lockset.

I do always provide both a deadbolt and handset however, for every exterior unit access.3) Tag your keys so that you have one ORIGINAL (not copied) complete set, including mailbox or other ancillary locks, per unit that never leaves the room where your key machine and key locker/pegboard are kept.

I think they cost me about $45 per hand set w a dead bolt.

We always buy our "Master Keyed" handsets and deadbolts from Ernie Riddle at Landlordlocks in Indiana.
