They send a guy out the next day he says it is the compressor.

We live in Phoenix and every time the ac unit goes out (every 3-4 years) it takes them at least a week, but usually 2 to have someone come out, look at the unit, then complete paperwork and requests to get a new compressor or parts.I am dealing with this right now in my personal home, and am hunting for my first investment property right now.

I once bought a house where the HVAC wouldn't kick on and the seller said he had a guy look at it and said the outside compressor needed replacement.

HVAC is  complicated and in most cases if your compressor goes out or your system is R-22 and has a leak the entire system will need to be replaced.

My daughters new Lenox system lost both the blower & induction motors, middle of winter 8 months after the new install & had compressor problems every year there after & I believe there was a recall on it.
