I say cheap because I live in New York City, and nothing is cheap real estate wise, so I am exploring parts of nearby jersey for more cost efficient options. my friend just bought a property in East Orange as well (its his 4th investment property) and he says he will be buying as many multifamily homes as he can out here over the next 3-5 years.here is what monthly expenses/income looks like monthly and annually.

I still work my full time during the day, but I keep my phone near by at all times. 

I realize this is a pretty regional topic, so hopefully some local Syracuse or nearby upstate NY people can chime in.

What are you seeing on Craigslist for nearby available rentals?

I'm an active duty military member and have the option of renting my rooms out to other military members who are at one of the 3 bases near by for training, which is usually 2-6 weeks at a time.

Matthew Olszak how much are C/D MF in your market or nearby there?

If so, are they tying into something nearby?  

But I have a hunch I'm going to love it and will hand my nearby properties over to them in a year or so.
