Mortgage advice from that source be like:Hopefully OP you are not delaying the process unnecessarily by refusing to sign paperwork until your loan officer is fluent in the incorrect definitions of words as used by BP, because you will likely be significantly delaying the process if you do, unless your LO is on BP (nothing wrong with that if she or he is :P ).EDIT: OK, reading the above comments from other mortgage folks, I guess the realtors aren't to blame, now I know where they are getting their bad info from.

Because you'll be living in the property, you'll be able to quickly identify and respond to maintenance tasks/repairs (plus, living at the property will teach you about the property's various quirks and patterns that will help you manage it more effectively in the future when you move out...experts know that properties are almost like living entities, in the sense that they have patterns of problems, decay, etc.
